How Cripps Sears supports burnt children in Africa

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

In early November, for the sixth year running, a team from Cripps Sears and Partners will be venturing out to South Africa, Biking and Hiking down ‘the garden route’ from George to Cape Town for ‘ABC’.

As many of you know, Cripps Sears & Partners run a CSR initiative called The ABC Challenge. A challenging and rewarding 5 day Hike & Bike along a stretch of the Garden Route in South Africa.

ABC stands for Action for Burns and Children, and the funds raised support a Cape Town based charity, The Phoenix Burns Trust. The Phoenix Burns Trust do an outstanding job in supporting children, who have suffered severe burn injuries, to get back into education and the wider society. Most of the children come from impoverished backgrounds in townships and have no means of gaining help with rehabilitation.

In South Africa, a Medical Research Council report estimates that each year 3.2% (1,600,000) of the country’s population will suffer from burn injuries.

This year, the money we raise for The Phoenix Burns Trust charity will go towards supporting the purchase of equipment for recovery medical laser therapy to reduce scaring and to provide relief treatment to badly burnt children.
