Cripps Sears has recently welcomed three new Associates to its London staff. Here Libertad West explains how she chose to move to the firm.
Coming from my native warm Mexico to the white cliffs of Dover was one of the best decisions I ever made to learn the Queen’s English and to study for a degree and a PGCE in Modern Languages including Italian and French. Prior to seeking a career in executive search, I was a successful secondary school and higher education teacher working in very diverse environments from very deprived areas of London to the echelons of power at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office training diplomats, MPs and other British dignitaries on missions to all Spanish speaking countries.
This was an interesting transition and “the making of me” as a Londoner and a professional. When I first started in executive search, just over 8 years ago, it was not a planned decision. I fell into it by accident after talking to an acquaintance working in a boutique executive search company. It was an opportunistic move but one which paved the way for a fulfilling career in research, first in biopharmaceuticals and then in oil and gas.
I switched to the oil and gas sector when I joined a firm that specialised in the energy industry. The sector was very appealing, given its international nature and how it enables me to apply my language skills. Joining the Cripps Sears team was a breath of fresh air as far as companies go. Cripps Sears’ inclusive work style means that Associates experience how business is conducted on a daily basis, offering us an excellent opportunity to share ideas and to learn from those around us.
Above all what I appreciate most is the friendly atmosphere of respect, professionalism and healthy competition. If anyone asks me about Cripps Sears, I would say that it is the best company I have ever worked for in executive search.
Also, at CSP I have found a happy medium working in the energy sector, in a successful international company with warm professional people who take pride in what they do!
We also welcome Alex Gibbs and Arpad Szakal to our team of Associates. Both are already proving to be invaluable to the business and have had a very successful start to their careers at Cripps Sears.
