Cripps Sears celebrates its 40th ‘birthday party’

Cripps Sears & Partners proudly celebrated 40 years in business in 2013, marking this key milestone with a celebratory event at Millbank Tower, London. Mike Cripps and the team were delighted to welcome 400 guests – clients, partners, friends and special guests from numerous countries – to their “around the world” themed champagne reception. Attendees enjoyed an evening of networking, interspersed with international entertainers and a brief pause for acclaimed speakers midway through the evening, against a breath-taking backdrop of the venue’s 360⁰ views of the London cityscape.

Mike and the Cripps Sears team were honoured that a number of guests agreed to take to the podium to share their own experiences of working with Cripps Sears over the course of its 40 year history; Matthew Wright (former CEO of Russell Reynolds, and Cripps Sears alumnus), Charles Jamieson (co-founder & Chairman of Salamander Energy), Frank Sivertsen (CEO of E.ON E&P) and Houghton Hutcheson (Cripps Sears’ Houston-based Partner) all spoke warmly of their working relationships with Cripps Sears & Partners, and Mike Cripps himself.

Mike was particularly delighted to welcome HRH, Prince Michael of Kent, to the anniversary event. Prince Michael’s involvement in the charity world created a link with Cripps Sears in his support for Carolyn Cripps Russian Children’s Burns charity supporting hospital number 9 in Moscow.

His influence encouraged Cripps Sears to set up its own initiative, ABC – ACTION FOR BURNS & CHILDREN, founded in 2008 in celebration of the company’s 35th anniversary. The initiative mainly focuses on burnt children from the townships outside of Cape Town. For the last 3 years ABC has organised a significant challenge where participants may Hike or Bike along the garden route to Cape Town in order to raise funds for ‘The Phoenix Burns Project’. ABC is again embarking on another challenge in November (8-16th) and hopes to have raised £100,000 in total by the end of the year for the charity.

The company was founded by Mike Cripps (and John Sears) in September 1973 and opened its first office at No. 2 Basil Street, Knightsbridge. Today, Cripps Sears retains its headquarters in London, but now has 5 international offices in Houston, Paris, Dubai, Singapore and Perth. Cripps Sears has been supporting and advising many of its clients for more than 3 decades.

“Cripps Sears has been fortunate that, over the past 40 years, it has had the opportunity to work with a number of very successful companies. It has been able to leverage this track record of success and continue these partnerships as well as fostering new relationships,” shared Mike Cripps, “Over the years since we founded Cripps Sears, our clients have been presented with huge challenges within their industries and, as trusted partners and advisors, the executive search industry has felt the impact of some of these. We’ve maintained focus, excelled within our niche, yet have remained flexible to adapt to better serve our clients. This flexibility has allowed us to keep the momentum and thus to continue to serve our clients, where some competitors struggled to survive. We’ve also stayed committed to being an organization where loyalty and achievement are recognised and rewarded; this culture has been a tremendous force behind our company’s successful history and, I believe, will continue to fuel our growth for years to come“.
