Towards carbon neutral recruitment

We are proud of our track record of finding the best talent for our international client list. But it has come at a cost:
50 years of flights have released hundreds of tonnes of carbon into the atmosphere. This is not sustainable, so we are taking action to reduce our emissions and do our bit to build a sustainable, resilient future.

Travel: keeping emissions low

The Covid-19 pandemic paused our international travel commitments and created an opportunity for us to rethink and reset our emissions.

While we will return to airports when necessary, we believe it’s important to continue using the latest technology to engage virtually with our international clients and networks. It’s the right thing to do: the pandemic travel restrictions forced a dramatic reduction in our carbon emissions for 2020-2021 and we want to continue this downward trajectory.

Simple changes in our London office have reduced our carbon output by 22 %

Our carbon finance from offsetting remaining emissions has purchased credits from Indian grid-scale wind energy projects

Office: streamlining processes

We have taken steps to improve the efficiency of our already lean-carbon office space, including:

  • Decommissioning our power-hungry on-premise server
  • Reducing printing to virtually zero
  • Transitioning to mains-fed filtered water coolers, thereby cutting HGV deliveries
  • Enabling staff to work from home 2 days a week, reducing their travel emissions

Offsetting: backing the global energy transition

We are offsetting our remaining emissions through international projects that cut carbon and improve lives.

In 2021 we partnered with Natural Capital Partners, the leading experts on carbon neutrality and climate finance, who have run some of the most innovative and largest voluntary carbon offset programmes in the world. They have helped Cripps Sears both to take full responsibility for the carbon footprint of our business, and take action to tackle climate change and improve people’s lives. Our carbon credits this year have been used to help finance grid-scale wind energy projects in India, bolstering the country’s transition to a low carbon economy and supporting jobs in rural areas.

75% of India’s energy needs are met through the burning of fossil fuels

By displacing fossil-fuel generated electricity, soot and SO2 pollution is reduced and air quality improved across India

Staying on track: auditing and certification

We are proud to have obtained CarbonNeutral(®) company certification in October 2021, through a rigorous assessment and auditing process in accordance with The CarbonNeutral Protocol.

We continue to work with Natural Capital Partners to take our sustainability strategy to the next level in future years.
