Executives at Norwest Holst must be quietly confident about their chances of being picked to work on the Havering Sixth Form College deal, in Hornchurch, Essex.

The deal, worth £43 million, is a design and build job, which also includes some refurbishing work at the Sixth Form's Wingletye Campus.

Norwest Holst is being tipped to be about to land the first of the two-stage tender project, in front of competitors Mansell, Wates and William Verry.

The company is also currently under way with a £32 million project to design and build a Sixth Form college in Stockport, in place of the existing Aquinas College.

A statement from the company read: "The 14,000sq metre facility will include a performing arts centre with recording facilities, IT teaching rooms and a learning resource centre.

"The contract also includes associated external works and landscaping as well as the demolition of the existing college upon completion of the new building."
