Multibuild awarded care contract

Multibuild has been awarded a £9.3 million pound contract to build a primary care centre for LSP Developments.

Multibuild has been awarded a £9.3 million pound contract to build a primary care centre for LSP Developments.

The care centre, to be built on a brownfield sit in Grimsby, is due for completion in June 2009.

Made up of 270 rooms, the site will have some interesting features, such as a raised foundation, in order to protect the care centre from potential flooding.

Speaking about such technicalities, Multibuild's operations director Paul Garstang said: "This is an unusual project as the whole site will need to be raised by one metre above ground level to avoid the existing flood plain and install drainage arrangements."

The contract will no doubt come as welcome relief to the property developer, as so many firms are in the process of publishing poor growth for their quarterly results.

British Land announced its results this week, detailing a loss of over £500 million for the quarter.

Other companies have had to restrict constructionrecruitment in order to reduce outgoings for the duration of the economic gloom, with Bellway one of the more positive companies, having produced much of its property for government and the public sector.
