Logica has been appointed by the Home Office to develop and support the information systems for the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) Scheme and the Criminal Records Bureau.

Created in response to the recommendations by the Bichard Inquiry, the scheme will be central to vetting employees working with children and vulnerable adults.

The ISA will then use the data to make informed decisions about individuals employed to work with these groups of society.

Adrian McAllister, chief executive officer of the ISA, commented: "Our new scheme is a vital component of the government's ongoing programme of work to provide increased protection for children and vulnerable adults across the UK."

He added that his organisation has a "long-standing and in-depth knowledge and track-record" in such affairs and has clearly demonstrated an understanding of the ISA's requirements for this scheme

The group's experience in Justice and Home Affairs includes the provision of information systems and services for organisations such as the Crown Prosecution Service, the Ministry of Justice and the Office for Criminal Justice Reform.
