Michael Dell, chief executive officer at computer manufacturer Dell, has announced that his company will grow faster than its competition over the coming months.
Speaking to a news conference on Thursday (September 25th), Mr Dell said: "You will see Dell grow faster than the rest of the industry in Europe and in the world."
"I am sure there will be some impact [as a result of the credit crunch]," he added.
"What impact is not exactly clear given the nature of the situation. We have a growing business, our business is pretty well diversified."
The comments come as the ferocity of the credit crunch has only this month been revealed along with the collapse of Lehman Brothers and the desperate situation AIG has found itself in.
Diversification will certainly help Dell protect itself from a large drop in profits, although with many surprises being discovered so far it is not unlikely that Dell itself may fall foul of the credit crunch in areas so far unpredicted.
